YritysKuopio – a network energising enterprise

YritysKuopio is an evolving service network, the result of extensive collaboration, which offers enterpreneurs a wide range of high-quality services “all under the same roof”. The overall goal of the network is to promote entrepreneurship and develop business activities as well as strengthen the development, growth and internationalisation of the Kuopio region’s economy.

“We have put together a great team of experts from many fields to boost enterprise in the Kuopio region. It’s important that we know each other’s markets well and can thus advise and help entrepreneurs together better than before. The network already has some joint services, such as Instant Help and the entrepreneur info sessions, and operations are still being developed. Most important in our joint efforts is promoting entrepreneurship,” stresses Unto Juutinen, the City of Kuopio’s acting Director of Economic and Business Development.

YritysKuopio’s services are aimed at individuals and teams planning to start a business, startups and those developing their business. The services provided are client-centred and tailored to the needs of each company or entrepreneur.

“We develop the business idea with the client confidentially and help in the start-up phase of the business. We also provide support in the various stages of product development and productisation,” says the Managing Director of the Kuopio Region New Business Centre, Antti Ylönen.

“It’s good that for existing entrepreneurs, too, we have one place and one number that they can call with any questions related to developing their business,” says the Chair of Kuopion Yrittäjät, Jouni Ortju.

The aim is to identify service needs by analysing the clients’ business operations and thereby find the areas that are most in need of development.

“Identifying the real development needs is fundamental to business development. That way we can solve the actual problems that may be obstacles to taking a business forward. YritysKuopio creates better opportunities to generate new enterprise in North Savo,” emphasises Kaija Sääski, Director of Education at the Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

YritysKuopio’s service points are located in the city centre and the Savilahti campus area.

“A good location also helps in finding partners. Both service points are located in areas where there is top expertise and enterprise in many fields,” says Satu Pirhonen, Coordinator of the NY Start Up programme at Savo Vocational College.

The service network is composed of the City of Kuopio Business Development Services, Kuopio Region New Business Centre, Kuopion Yrittäjät, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Savo Vocational College and the University of Eastern Finland. The YritysKuopio service network is part of the larger Enterprise Finland network.
